How to reset the tyre pressure (TPMS) light in your Suzuki

November 22, 2022

During cold snaps, you may notice a yellow horseshoe-shaped light with an exclamation mark appear on the dashboard of your Suzuki alerting you that your tyre pressures are underinflated. We get numerous enquries from customers experiencing this, but more often than not, it’s simply caused by a drop in temperature that triggers your tyre-pressure monitoring system (TPMS) light to come on.

It’s simple science that cold contracts and heat expands, so as a rule of thumb for every 10°C drop in ambient temperature, tyre pressure decreases by 1 bar or 14.5 psi (pounds per square inch). While this doesn’t sound like much, remember there’s only 35-40 psi in the tyres of most Suzuki models.

We advise inflating your tyres to the higher levels as recommended by the manufacturer to improve fuel efficiency and tyre tread life, as well as optimise your vehicle’s handling and stopping ability. You can find the recommended inflation pressures on the information placard located on the driver’s side front door shut, although here’s what we suggest:

Suzuki models psi (front + rear):

  • Celerio 39/36
  •  Ignis 36/38
  •  Swift 36/41
  •  Baleno 38/36
  •  Vitara 41/38
  •  S-Cross 41/38
  •  Jimny 26/26

Check your tyre inflation pressures monthly when temperatures drop, and if necessary, adjust them using our helpful ‘how to’ video below. To make the TPMS light go out, adjust the tyre pressures, and drive the vehicle for about 10 minutes. If the warning light still doesn’t go off, there may be a problem with the TPMS and you’ll need to  contact us  so we can inspect the vehicle. If the light comes on again shortly after adjusting the pressures you may have a puncture.
